2005 was a rather uninteresting year for which there isn't much to mention on this site, so I skipped it. Here it is in two sentences: After getting married at the end of 2004, it made the most sense to spend the next year trying to settle down somewhat; after partially succeeding at that, I spent most of the year at home in Taiwan, except for two trips to California to assist with Hungry Planet book production. 2005 was also the first year since my first trip back in 1997 in which I didn't make it to China at least once!

2006 came around and my mom and stepdad had yet another photojournalistic project which brought them in my direction. I met them in Shanghai in June for the beginning of a one-month quest through my favorite adventuring grounds (referring to China, certianly not Shanghai). We were searching for unique individuals to see, shoot, and examine what they eat in a day. My pictures won't focus on that particular goal, but rather the overall experience of the trip and the scenery along the way.

We traveled through three regions, Shanghai, Chengdu/Sichuan, and Tibet, interviewing acrobats, construction workers, farmers, and monks and nuns among others. Use the map below or links to the left to check them out.

[Notes: 1. All pictures in these pages with me in them are copyrighted by Peter Menzel; all others copyrighted by me. 2. I've left out a few pictures and some text for now since I can't talk about everything in too great of detail; I'll probably add a little more in the future.]
